Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mold Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting molds used in manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with mold maintenance, and the ability to ensure molds are in optimal working condition to support production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on molds to ensure production quality.
- Inspect molds for wear, damage, and defects, identifying necessary repairs or replacements.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble molds using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
- Work with engineers, toolmakers, and production teams to troubleshoot mold-related issues.
- Ensure mold components, including cavities, cores, and ejector systems, are properly maintained.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mold drawings, and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, modifications, and part replacements.
- Operate grinders, lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment to modify or repair mold components.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures when handling molds and maintenance tools.
- Assist in the installation and setup of molds for production runs.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in Tool & Die, Machining, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in mold maintenance, repair, or tooling in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mold components, injection molding processes, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Experience with welding, polishing, and machining for mold repair is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of CAD drawings and mold design is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces when handling molds.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with machinery, heat, and noise.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods during mold maintenance tasks.
