Job Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Reliability Specialist takes a lead role in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and improving all production equipment. In addition, this position will be responsible for managing projects at various facilities. The successful candidate will possess significant experience and an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing equipment installation and maintenance. They will have a genuine desire to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently, utilizing good work practices as part of a Reliability team, leading projects, or when working independently with minimal supervision. They will adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies. Additional responsibilities will include: periodic training of proper machine operation and maintenance, assistance with creating work instructions and other related documentation and cross-training into other job functions as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose machine malfunctions and determine a failure mitigation plan for future events.
Repair and upgrade electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic machinery & equipment in accordance with CI&R plans using precision measuring and testing devices to diagnose/monitor the systems. Basic fabrication with hand and power tools, test-operate machinery to verify functionality.
Provide technical expertise to plan and develop robust Preventative/Predictive Maintenance projects including processes, schedules, and audit checks with assigned facilities to meet current and long-term objectives; assist with execution of PMs as needed.
Manage all assigned projects (local and satellite) to completion. This may include research & development, design & quoting, internal resources, contractor management, testing, installation, and project closing to ensure project yields a safe process that upholds quality standards and maintains/increases production efficiency.
Assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and upgrading of all equipment to verify safe working order and proper functionality.
Ability to install conduit, electrical wiring, air/water/hydraulic piping, or any additional systems required for proper machine installation with minimal direction from engineering or supervision.
Read blueprints, schematic drawings, and diagrams to install machinery properly and safely; draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria.
May be responsible for performing or coordinating maintenance and repairs on plant power distribution systems.
Assembles circuitry to engineering specifications, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components and their functions.
Ability to trouble-shoot and repair motor drives, temperature controllers, and computer-based controllers
Sets up standard test apparatus or contrives test equipment and circuitry; conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models.
Check newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
Collaborate with Continuous Improvement personnel on FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Data Analysis & other improvement project tasks.
Prioritizes technical issues and distributes workload to avoid catastrophic failures.
Reports in a prompt manner high-risk areas that affect product and service reliability.
Interact with other Operating facilities to ensure consistent best-practices are maintained.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High School Diploma or GED is required; Advanced degree, apprenticeship in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent years of experience (5 years industrial Electro-mechanical experience at Electro-mechanical II level)
7 years industrial maintenance experience in a similar working environment; operating hand and power tools, precision measuring or testing devices (tape measure, calipers, metric & standard)
7 years’ experience and knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and machine shop tools and equipment in order to perform preventative maintenance, major repairs, complex machine set-ups & installation of parts
Proven analytical skills to determine root cause to repair & improve machinery
Ability to independently project manage a variety of small and medium projects
Knowledge of 6S and Lean Manufacturing techniques
Experience troubleshooting advanced PLC controls
Advance knowledge and experience using multi-meter, amp meter, oscilloscope and other electrical test tools
Electrical skills to include: all phases of electrical construction and installation, electrical circuit troubleshooting, change fuses, check voltages, replace & install variable frequency drives and motor controls on systems which include 120/240/480 volts
Ability to read, understand and modify blueprints, schematic drawings and diagrams
Ability to take a lead role in the diagnosis, repair, testing of machinery and electrical systems as required
Experience in major equipment/system upgrades/revisions both electrically as well as mechanically including control systems
Knowledge and experience in welding and fabricating techniques
Work effectively as a team member and with little or no supervision. Possess sound interpersonal skills for working with multiple personalities to maintain good working relationships.
Effective computer skills (email, PM schedules, work orders, etc.)
Valid PA driver’s license with ability to drive 24,900lb box truck or flat bed with manual or automatic transmission
