POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Operational Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of direct and indirect materials, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and supplier performance. This role supports operational procurement functions, including purchase order management, supplier coordination, and process improvements. The Senior Operational Buyer collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, including production, planning, and quality teams, to maintain an efficient supply chain and resolve procurement-related issues.
OVERALL OBECTIVE OF ROLE
The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless procurement and availability of materials to support manufacturing operations. This includes maintaining supply continuity, optimizing inventory levels, and improving procurement processes to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and supplier performance. The Senior Operational Buyer plays a key role in aligning procurement activities with production needs while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Execute procurement activities, including issuing purchase orders (POs) and managing order confirmations, changes, and expediting deliveries.
Monitor supplier performance and take corrective actions as needed to maintain service levels and quality standards.
Work closely with internal teams to align procurement activities with production schedules and inventory requirements.
Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify and implement process efficiencies to enhance procurement operations.
Collaborate with finance to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure proper cost allocation.
Maintain procurement records, supplier contracts, and compliance with company policies.
Analyze procurement data and provide insights on supplier performance and procurement trends.
Assist in material planning activities to ensure optimal inventory levels and avoid production disruptions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience with Drop Shipments, and International Procurement
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. - Epicor is a plus
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier management, and cost analysis.
