EcoResource Solutions, Inc. (ERS) is a professional environmental consulting firm that provides aquatic and terrestrial ecological services nationwide. ERS’ services range from high level scientific consulting, wetland delineation and mitigation, NEPA and Section 7 ESA, and permit clearance for wind and solar energy projects. We serve a diverse clientele, primarily throughout the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Project Biologist to perform a variety of job tasks. We are looking for highly motivated and independent person who is interested in working in the natural resource management field, and who specifically has a strong interest in advancing within the firm.
Position Title: *Project Manager / Project Biologist*
Classification: Full time, exempt; salary
Compensation: Salary based on education and experience
Overview: The Project Manager will work under the direct supervision of the company’s principal ecologists and will be responsible for supervision of all staff. Work assignments will vary depending upon different project types, but will primarily include the coordination and completion of natural resource surveys; coordination and completion of regional fishery and lake management tasks; and performance of laboratory duties. Other responsibilities include:
- Daily communicantion with clients, coordination and management of daily project tasks, and supervision of all projects and staff;
- Completion of GIS data analysis and map products;
- Completion of lake bathymetry data analysis and map products;
- Design and implementation of aquatic (fisheries and benthic invertebrates), terrestrial (various wildlife species), and wetland surveys and studies;
- Project acquisition through sales calls, trade shows, and proposal preparation;
- Preparation of scientific reports and other client product documents;
- Completion of cost and technical proposals; and
- Direct consultation with regulatory agencies and clients with environmental permitting, resource surveys and mitigation issues.
Qualifications: We prefer that the successful candidate have a minimum of a M.S. degree in fishery and/or wildlife sciences, natural resource management, or related field. However, experienced candidates with B.S. degrees will be considered. This position requires the ability to work independently (often under adverse weather conditions and in remote areas) and travel out of state for periods up to one week or more at a time. Must demonstrate an adequate knowledge of aquatic and terrestrial ecology and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience and knowledge of ArcGis Pro, ArcMap and TerraSync are required. This position requires out of state travel for up to 2 weeks per month during summer months.
A valid driver’s license with good record is required, and required at all times during employment with ERS.
Knowledge and experience in the following areas are essential:
- Knowledge and experience conducting avian and bat surveys, including fauna identification;
- Knowledge and experience using acoustic bat monitors and related software;
- Knowledge and experience conducting wetland delineations, including flora identification;
- Strong verbal and writing skills;
- Data processing, compilation and interpretation skills (including statistical methods);
- Fish and wildlife assessment methodologies and management techniques;
- Aquatic resource management practices and general water quality;
- Knowledge and experience processing aquatic macroinvertebrate samples in the lab (preferred);
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Proficiency with GIS applications (field and data processing);
- Proficiency with operation of boats, 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, and trailer towing;
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including heavy lifting, boating, hiking, digging, etc.;
- Proficient time management skills to complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines; and
- Knowledge and practice of outdoor safety (e.g., must complete a Colorado boat safety course upon hire).
