We’re looking for a talented Product Development Director to oversee the development and optimization of products from conception through commercialization. This role is critical in managing the product lifecycle, ensuring innovative solutions align with company strategies, and meeting market demands.
Key Job Functions
· Lead the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of existing products, including maintenance, updates, and SKU optimization with support from finance and operations teams.
· Manage the entire product development process through the Stage Gate program, including planning, scheduling, and tracking of all projects to ensure timely delivery and successful commercialization.
· Serve as the primary liaison for product development, coordinating with inventory control, purchasing, innovation, and marketing teams to streamline workflows and enhance product offerings.
· Drive the transition of new products from concept to market, overseeing prototypes, launch plans, and internal communications to ensure seamless introductions.
· Conduct and oversee market research, competitive analysis, and product strategy development in collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify customer needs and market opportunities.
· Champion process improvements and automation within the department to enhance efficiency and communication.
· Regularly update and manage product information databases, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with company standards.
· Prepare and present product development updates, business cases, and strategic direction to the Steering Committee and other stakeholders.
· Collaborate closely with the Chief Innovation Officer and R&D Director to align technical product development efforts with organizational goals.
· Maintain active communication with various departments, including sales, marketing, production, and operations, to develop products that meet customer expectations and drive market growth.
· Manage special projects and additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
In order to be successful, you will need:
· Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Administration or related field; MBA preferred
· At least 3 to 5 years of product development experience
· Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to drive multiple ongoing projects to the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution, understanding how to align resources and manage others to achieve desired results
· Strong analytical skills
· Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
· Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
· Proficiency in Stage Gate and enterprise resource planning system
· Ability to travel upon request
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
Salary Range: $75,000 to $95,000
