Position Overview:
The Project Engineer will work as part of a project team and must be able to effectively communicate with all members of the team. In this role the project engineer will serve as a process expert on PHA teams and be required to lead capital projects as the Project Manager on a regular basis.
What you will be doing:
- Specify equipment for sulfuric acid regeneration unit, including, but not limited to: boilers, compressors, heat exchangers, generators, cooling towers, acid towers, precipitators, converters, furnaces, tanks, and pumps.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for non-compressible and compressible fluids.
- Size project components such as piping, ducting, valves, pumps, etc.
- Develop specification sheets for equipment for use in capital project procurement.
- Develop PFDs and P&IDs for new or modified operations.
- Develop and document material and energy balances for new or modified processes.
- Develop operational and/or functional statements in coordination with Controls Engineer.
- Manage, schedule, and coordinate all assigned capital projects.
- Develop, justify, and submit project scopes and cost estimates.
- Develop and submit capital project appropriation requests.
- Manage project budgets via tracking and forecasting project costs.
- Manage projects in the field during construction, including during unit turnarounds.
- Maintain document control of all project files throughout project duration.
- Ensure project compliance with applicable codes, laws, policies, and technical specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
- Min of 2 plus years of relevant manufacturing industry experience
- Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
- Must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve problems
- Must have experience in using and developing engineering spreadsheets/calculations
- Must be organized, systematic, independent, and self-motivated
- Must possess knowledge or willingness to learn basic project management processes
- Knowledge of MS Projects and/or applicable project planning software
- Knowledge AutoCAD and/or other applicable process design software
