Job Summary: 

Ecosystem Investment Partners is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our Sausalito, CA team. The environmental project manager is responsible for overseeing the design development, planning and permitting, construction, and compliance tracking. The duties include maintaining project development across numerous vendors, achieving defined milestones within the timeline and budget, tracking schedule, and prioritizing project tasks based on anticipated critical paths.

 

The successful candidate will have experience managing budgets, resources, and vendors, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within budget, and navigating the complex regulatory landscape of California. They will also communicate with interested parties, identify risks, and ensure project quality and standards are met.


MUST LIVE WITHIN COMMUTING DISTANCE OF SAUSALITO, CA AREA. RELOCATION IS NOT OFFERED.

 

Qualifications:

Client Management

• Professionalism and strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

• Relationship management/customer service mindset.

• Ability to categorize and appropriately respond to/escalate client and vendor requests and questions.

• Ability and motivation to independently follow through on tasks in a timely manner with little to no oversight.

• Strong presentation skillset for conveying information to various audiences and fielding questions in remote and in-person settings.


Project Management

• Self-starter, highly motivated, demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and manage a large volume of tasks with varying deadlines

• Ability to monitor and maintain complex and multi-party project schedules and identify and plan for critical paths.

• High attention to detail and skilled at proofreading and technical editing.

• Comfortable with organizing workflow for others and managing up.

• Capacity to anticipate and implement successful meeting preparation, including completion of necessary technical work, scheduling, creating meeting agenda, taking meeting notes, and organized tracking of actionable items and meeting records.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines at once and oversee multiple vendors.

• Ability to leverage technology to enhance client interactions and support project completion.


Technical Skills

• Experienced in navigating the complex regulatory environment in California (experience in the Sacramento Delta Region with environmental restoration preferred) and familiarity with typical project design elements not limited to biological, cultural resources, hydrology, engineering, permitting, CEQA/NEPA, and construction considerations. The candidate will need to technically review and thoroughly understand documents for all project elements and be able to identify and communicate important takeaways and potential risks.

• Strong competency in software including Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Project, and Adobe Acrobat DC.


Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental sciences, engineering, or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably in the environmental restoration field.

Physical Requirements 

The person will work in an office environment, sit at a desk for extended periods, and use physical dexterity to operate general office and computer equipment. The candidate will also complete site visits and field tours that will require field smarts and the ability to work outside, walk on uneven ground, and through vegetation.

 

The person will frequently communicate with peers, managers, subordinates, and clients and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these situations. This position requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching, which may be required for extended periods. 


Work Environment 

The person in this position will frequently travel for in-person meetings to Sacramento, the project site, Sausalito, and up to two times a year to EIP’s main office in Baltimore. Travel will also be required to the project site, requiring driving on uneven terrain and working outdoors in hot and dusty environments. Local and domestic travel via commercial transportation (approximately 50% travel may be required.
