Overview :
We are seeking an experienced English and Academic Writing Support Specialist who can foster a supportive and motivating learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic growth. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional proficiency in English language and composition, along with a strong understanding of academic writing principles. The primary responsibility of the specialist will be to provide personalized assistance to online students in refining their writing process and improving their academic writing abilities, including familiarity with APA formatting. This is a full-time position in the evenings and one weekend day.
Responsibilities :
- Provide one on one online tutoring sessions to students seeking assistance with English and Academic Writing.
- Assist students in understanding and applying grammatical rules, vocabulary, sentence structure and punctuation effectively in their writing.
- Guide the students through the process of brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing academic papers, across various subjects.
- Offer constructive feedback on students writing, focusing on clarity, organization, and reasoning.
- Help students develop critical thinking skills necessary for analyzing and combining information from diverse reliable sources.
- Support students in conducting research, evaluating sources, and integrating evidence into their papers appropriately, while including adherence to APA formatting guidelines.
- Collaborate with program directors, faculty, and student success coordinators to address student students' specific needs and enhance their overall academic success.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student progress and feedback on individual development and assess effectiveness of interventions.
Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Writing, Education, or a related field.
