Staff Geologist II

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide oversight of drilling contractors on large Coastal Plain well projects 

• Review and understand well specification documents to evaluate compliance during well construction 

• Compile daily field logs documenting site activities 

• Communicate field observations to senior staff and clients  

• Office tasks to include digitization of daily field logs and other field forms 

• Attend project meetings with senior staff and assist with resolutions to technical and administrative problems 

• Begin to learn how to manage project budgets and the need for change orders. Prepare invoices and assist with collection efforts 

• Basic ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines. Consult with your supervisor to help prioritize tasks on a daily basis. 

• Develop management capabilities of environmental projects including the application of technical support, with supervisory input as needed. 

• Prepare environmental reports, perform analysis and provide recommendations in collaboration with senior staff 

• Other duties as assigned. 

Geologic Evaluations 

• Initiate project set up and implementation under the direct supervision of senior staff 

• Experience performing geologic logging and directing the construction of wells 

• Strong ability to maintain detailed field records and communicate information to senior staff 

• Communicate changing site conditions to supervisor and discuss their implications on field investigations. Implement investigation changes in the field as directed by your supervisor 

• Work with senior staff to develop an understanding of the relation of field observations and sample results to findings and conclusions in the report 

• Assist on Groundwater and soil investigations and media sampling. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or other Engineering degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting 

• Minimum 1 year of related experience 

• If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver’s license is required 

Skills and Abilities 

• Basic knowledge of geologic well logging 

• Basic experience providing direction to drilling contractors 

• Interest in project management, consulting, and business development. 

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds a number of times each day and walk on uneven ground through various terrains.
