Supervises:
Primary Purpose: The goal of the Elementary Fine Arts Coordinator is to ensure that each elementary student of ECISD receives the highest quality fine arts instruction that this school district can provide.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree Preferred
- Administrative Certificate Preferred
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Knowledge of overall operations of a Fine Arts program
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, and staff
Experience:
- Successful teaching/administrative experience.
- Extensive knowledge of elementary fine arts TEKS and best practices.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Direct, supervise, and support the instructional programs and activities for all elementary Fine Arts programs.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all aspects of the ECISD Fine Arts for Kids program and the ECISD Art Shows.
- Coordinate and supervise all aspects of differentiated methods of instructional delivery and performances including the use of virtual platforms.
- Coordinate and serve as a liaison for community arts enrichment programs conducted in ECISD classrooms (e.g., Art2Go).
- Coordinate, direct, and organize the development of new and/or innovative fine arts programs for the district.
- Assist Elementary Principals and Fine Arts teachers in scheduling classes for the most efficient use of the teaching staff.
- Communicate with the curriculum department, counseling and guidance personnel to provide assistance concerning elementary Fine Arts curriculum.
- Communicate with and assist Elementary Principals in providing support to teachers for the effective implementation of district curriculum.
- Attain TTESS certification to assist principals in the evaluation process of fine arts teachers.
- Attend and evaluate elementary Fine Arts programs: plays, concerts, recitals, parades, parent-teacher club programs, etc.
- Provide pertinent information to elementary Fine Arts teaching staff members through meeting, memoranda, etc. concerning contest policies, school policies, community requests, program schedules, etc.
- Serve as an advisor to the Executive Director of Fine Arts in elementary personnel matters.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts with the planning and organizing of district professional development for all Fine Arts personnel.
- Coordinate with the district to plan, arrange, and provide opportunities for fine arts teachers to obtain additional certifications specific to subject area.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts in the recruitment of highly qualified individuals for ECISD Fine Arts positions.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts with keeping an up-to-date inventory of all fine arts equipment, determining repair needs, and providing guidance for replacement of capital equipment.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts with the development and coordination of the budget for the Fine Arts office.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts with the administration of other special community activities involving ECISD fine arts groups.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts with the supervision and record keeping for approved in-district and out-of-district travel of all fine arts groups.
- Assist the Executive Director of Fine Arts by serving as liaison between program seekers, parade planners, etc. and school staff members to help prevent exploitation of fine arts students for personal, political, or commercial benefit.
- Attend and participate in various conferences and workshops to represent and promote ECISD Fine Arts education, facilitate professional development opportunities for our teachers, and stay current on the latest teaching methods and technology.
- Maintain memberships and attend conferences in professional leadership organizations to stay abreast of changes and developments in state policies, UIL, State Board of Education rule, and federal and state law specific to fine arts.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and the Executive Director of Fine Arts.
