Primary Purpose:
The PEIMS Manager is responsible for coordinating the collection, integration and formatting of all necessary data to be submitted for PEIMS and Core Collection Reporting. The PEIMS Manager will also work closely with both business and student application teams to ensure a high level of data quality by performing audits and reviewing procedures.

The goal of the PEIMS Manager is to monitor information systems data to ensure a high level of data quality at all times, for the purposes of required reporting as well as in-district analysis.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems preferred


Special Knowledge Skills:

  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal requirements for data reporting and ability interpret new requirements, including the PEIMS Data Standards and Student Attendance Accounting Handbook;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, One Note and Share Point;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data extraction methodologies such as SQL or Microsoft Access and the ability to apply them to the needs of the position;
  • Knowledge and experience with microcomputer hardware/software;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and query for data anomalies;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth audits;
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database systems;
  • Ability to read and interpret technical material and specifications;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and training;
  • Ability and temperament to adapt quickly to a technically changing environment;
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication/presentation skills;
  • Ability to work with other staff members as part of a team with a common purpose;
  • Excellent writing, editing, organization, analytical and investigative skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated customer-oriented attitude.


Experience:

  • Minimum five years’ professional level experience utilizing data applications systems for the purpose of PEIMS and Office of Civil Rights reporting

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for the collection, integration and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission and other state or federal requirements;
  • Be the designated District PEIMS Coordinator as required by TEA;
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of collected data by conducting regular audits and resolving discrepancies;
  • Work with Student and Business teams to make sure procedures for maintaining data in the Information Systems comply with PEIMS reporting needs;
  • Responsible for working with special program departments on data requirements necessary for state reporting
  • Maintain and schedule the reviews of Data Compliance Domain documentation and data dictionaries;
  • Work with the stakeholders to maintain accurate and up-to-date Data Governance documentation;
  • Coordinate responses to TEA audits;
  • Coordinates a timeline for required data reporting;
  • Runs edits, reports and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information prior to submission deadlines;
  • Comply with current with state and federal requirements and apply that knowledge to procedural practices;
  • Provides training and makes presentations to district employees in one-on-one as well as group
sessions to enable them to properly implement and manage applications;
  • Develops, produces and maintains written documentation and training materials for areas of responsibility;
  • Determine data reports and schedules needed to ensure high quality data;
  • Reports and recommends changes or improvements to procedures, applications, and/or programming when needed for data collection, maintenance, and improved efficiency;
  • Creates ad-hoc reports for the purposes of monitoring data;
  • Takes initiative in determining needs for better data quality and working with the appropriate team to accomplish those goals;
  • Maintains broad knowledge base of both student and business applications to apply to data reporting;
  • Identifies and reports data anomalies to the appropriate team members;
  • Initiates activities among clerical and professional staff that encourage sound time management practices with respect to data collection and maintenance;
  • Performs complex reconciliation and correction tasks with respect to special populations data and/or data that is reported to TEA via PEIMS;
  • Maintains a high level of proficiency in the report writing tools supported by district software, writing and testing reports for accuracy and maintaining detailed instructions of developed programs and updates, repairs, modifies and expands existing programs;
  • Ensures timelines are met;
  • Provides technical guidance & leadership in the course of product development that ensures high quality products are developed & delivered in a timely basis;
  • Constantly demonstrates a proactive attitude in securing information, stays informed of applications software modifications & enhancements& anticipates customer needs & recommends solutions;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Maintains strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations;
  • Communicates effectively with district personnel to assure that the highest level of diplomacy is maintained at all times;
  • Demonstrates an attitude of quality service with working with district personnel;
  • Functions within the policies and administrative procedures of the ECISD;
  • Travels independently (local and overnight) to fulfill the responsibilities of the position;
  • Accomplishes tasks in a timely manner;
  • Periodically works after normal duty hours and occasional weekends or holidays to meet project deadlines or as directed by supervisor;
  • Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
