About ECU Health Chowan and Bertie Hospital
ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides programs and services to 110,000 people in 6 counties. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
ECU Health Bertie Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 6-bed critical access hospital in Windsor. It is closely affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center and the telemedicine resources of The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The hospital offers high quality surgical, emergency and diagnostic services, as well as specialty and primary care clinics.
Position Summary
The Laboratory Manager is a member of the hospital management staff and will oversee both ECU Health Chowan and ECU Health Bertie Hospitals.
As the Laboratory Manager, you will:

Manage the daily activities in the delivery of quality patient care within the laboratory
- Administer policies and manages personnel within areas of expertise daily
- Maintain adequate inventories of supplies and reagents to perform testing
- Assure adequate equipment is available, operational and performance monitored
- Monitor current accreditation standards to ensure department compliance with all regulatory agencies. (CAP< JCAHO< NCCLS< CLIA< OSHA< federal Regulation, AABB, etc)
- Develop, plan and audit departmental goals and budgets
- Monitor and serve as a resource for activities related to physical plant, data processing, and educational training of students and the laboratory.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science
- Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Science ASCP, AMT, HEW, or equivalent certification is required.
Preferred:
- A minimum of three (3) years of clinical laboratory experience is required. Previous supervisory, management experience
Other Information
- 40 hours per week
- Monday - Friday (8 am - 4:30 pm)
- Required to work occasional nights, weekends, and on-call as operational needs demand
- Will be required to travel between ECU Health Chowan and ECU Health Bertie Hospitals
