ECU Health North Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited, 204-bed acute bed facility serving Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in the north-central region of North Carolina. Its service area also reaches into southern Virginia. With more than 600 team members, the hospital offers a broad range of medical and surgical services. It features a 24-hour emergency department and offers advanced diagnostics as well as specialty and primary care.
Position Summary
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the Infection Prevention and Control Program, developed to control the spread of infections and/or outbreaks. Track and monitor transmissible diseases and notify local, state and federal authorities about reportable diseases as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Medical Technology, Epidemiology or Master of Public Health (required).
- Master's degree in applicable field, such as MSN, MPH, MPA, MaED, MS.
- RNs - current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required.
- MT - current generalist/specialty certification by a nationally recognized board/agency required.
- More than 5 years of relevant experience in acute care hospital or similar required. One year of Infection Prevention experience, preferred.
- Must obtain Certification in Infection Control within 3 years and recertified every 5 years.
