About ECU Health Beaufort Hospital, a campus of ECU Health Medical Center
ECU Health Beaufort Hospital serves as a campus of ECU Health Medical Center. The 142-bed full-service hospital is located in Washington and has earned national designation as a Primary Stroke Center. It is home to a 16-bed emergency department that serves approximately 25,000 patients per year, as well as the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center - a provider of leading-edge chemotherapy and radiation therapy, among other cancer services. ECU Health Beaufort also offers general medical and surgical services, operative services, a women's birthing center, rehabilitation services and outpatient clinics.
Position Summary
The Surgical First Assistant will support the intraoperative surgical first assisting with all and any assigned surgical specialty teams. The role will help expedite surgical productivity, provide as second assist as needed and first assist for surgeon when residents are not available.
Minimum Requirements
- High School 2 plus years of formal training/education is required.

Certification in Surgical Assistant/Surgical First Assistant is required
- 2 years of experience as a Surgical First Assistant in a hospital Operating Room setting is preferred.

Graduates from a CAAHEP accredited programs go on to earn their CSA/CFA

The following certifications may be accepted:
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)/CSFA
- American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)/SA-C,
- National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC) or CCI Institute/ CRNFA
- The National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) and/or any Nationally Certified Surgical Assistance Certifications
