Employment Type: Part-Time available (18 - 20hrs/week), Nights & Weekends Required

Ecusta Market & Cafe is a brand-new, local grocery and cafe situated on the Ecusta Trail just outside downtown Hendersonville. We are dedicated to offering quality goods to our community. Our team plays a key role in making that happen, and we're looking for enthusiastic, friendly individuals who share our values and bring joy to everyday moments.
Position Overview
We are looking for a few great Market Team Members to join our work family. In this role, you will be cross-trained to work both stocking the shelves with fresh and local goods and helping customers at the checkout. A successful candidate will have an eye for detail, a passion for small batch and local goods, and a customer-first mindset. During a shift, you may rotate between both roles depending on the day's needs. Gratitude is at the heart of everything we do, and exceptional customer service is the most valuable skill any of our employees can bring. We expect every interaction to be warm, prompt, and knowledgeable. Our guests have countless options, yet they choose to spend their time and money with us—a decision we never take for granted.
As a stocker at Ecusta Market, you are outgoing and eager to help our customers find the products they are looking for—you take the initiative to check in on our guests and are excited to inform and educate them about the products we carry.
As a cashier, you are the final point of contact and representative to the guest experience on their shopping trip. You are comfortable handling money and multi-tasking—being sociable while also ringing up groceries and moving folks through the line.
Responsibilities
- Stock shelves and ensure that products are properly displayed and maintained.
- Assist customers with product questions and promote local, small-batch goods.
- Operate the cash register efficiently and with a positive attitude.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shopping environment.
- Stay knowledgeable about the farmers and producers we work with, sharing their stories with customers (there will be on-the-job and ongoing training).
- Support sustainable practices and help find ways to reduce waste.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations across the market and cafe.
Qualifications
- Passion for local, organic, and sustainable products.
- Friendly and outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Comfortable working in both stocking and cashier roles.
- Prior retail or grocery experience is a plus but not required.
- Interest in or knowledge of local farming and/or homesteading a plus.
- Being an outdoor enthusiast is a plus—we are right on the Ecusta Trail.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
