What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior R&D Electrical Engineer position at Ed Wallach Search Group?
Electrical Design Engineer
This role requires an innovative and complex electronic design engineer to develop new products from conception through production release, and improve existing product designs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful completion of projects, including design, testing, specification, documentation, and qualification throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Create innovative new product designs based on thorough knowledge of company strategy and needs, and advanced design skills.
Construct and maintain new product timelines, which include required external resources, and design improvements to existing products.
Recommend manufacturing and design fabrication methods applicable to best practice, troubleshoot design obstructions, and provide cost-effective solutions.
Perform prototype design experimentation, rapid prototype, and conventional prototype fabrication, evaluate prototype designs for performance and reliability, and write product specifications and provide prints documentation and testing verification methods.
Conduct technical feasibility evaluations, qualifications field and competitive testing to verify design, formulate development, unit, and tooling cost estimates, and perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical/electronic design issues during development after the production start.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and ensure the development of a quality product that supports company and consumer needs, produce project documentation, and assist operations and outside suppliers through new product development stages.
Manage moderately complex to complex projects from concept, design, and through completion, developing timelines and ensuring project success by maintaining timeline targets, budget responsibilities, and quality requirements.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electronics Engineering (BSET) or equivalent.
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in R&D electrical design engineering within consumer product design, with experience in fixed point arithmetic programming, phased array and beamforming algorithms, acoustic or sonar instrumentation, and translating functional requirements into system design specifications.
Experience in commercialized phased array multibeam sonar, solid understanding and hands-on-experience on digital signal processing concepts and algorithms, Verilog or VHDL programming experience, and proficiency in MATLAB programming, C, and C language, embedded systems interfacing with analog sensor instrumentation, and electronic and/or electrical circuits and components.
