Job Title:  Family Therapist

Department Location: Omaha

Programs:  PHP/TIOP

Supervisor:  Program Director

FLSA:  Hourly, Non- Exempt

 

Summary of Major Functions: 

Primarily responsible for the family focus of PHP/TIOP patients as part of interdisciplinary team. Provides family therapy, group therapy, and treatment planning, and documents all treatment processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:          

  1. Creates an individualized treatment plan with appropriate PHP goals and objectives (completed within 72 hours) and continually monitors progress and re-evaluates appropriateness of goals.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of clinical interviewing/counseling skills.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of family systems theory and implements it in family sessions and in conceptual formulations with team.
  4. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in working with couples.
  5. Serves as a liaison between patient families and the EDCare treatment team.
  6. Ensures that patients are seen for family therapy as clinically indicated (once weekly for PHP and as indicated for TIOP).
  7. Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport.
  8. Facilitates groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, setting limits and monitoring the group process.
  9. Coordinates, implements multi-family program resulting in increased support and awareness by families.
  10. Is creative in therapeutic interventions to include homework assignments, community resources, etc.
  11. Timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: treatment plan, progress notes, etc.
  12. Assures continuity and quality of program, which may include areas such as curriculum development and group implementation.
  13. Participates in weekly staffing, conveying pertinent clinical information and formulating goals for the following week.
  14. Ongoing attention to discharge plan evidenced by development of aftercare plan and patient’s knowledge of available resources.
  15. Provides clinical supervision to select clinical employees as assigned by the Program Manager/Director as requested.
  16. Provide schedules and information necessary to billing and other staff to ensure effective workflow processes.
  17. Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree in behavioral health required; PhD or Psy D in behavioral health preferred.
  2. LMHP, LMIHP, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PhD, or PsyD license within 2 months of hire required.
  3. Clinical conceptualization of the treatment of eating disorders and dual diagnosis grounded in evidenced-based treatment models required.
  4. Experience working with patients with eating disorders required.
  5. Experience working with families and systems required.
  6. Good oral and written communication skills required.
  7. Clinical leadership skills including experience supervising staff preferred.

Computer Skills:

  1. Must be able to effectively maneuver within an office scheduling system.
  2. Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Intermediate skills are required with Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.

Physical Demands and Environment:

Physical demands of this job include but are NOT limited to:

Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately.  This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally.
 

Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:

95% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
