Job Title:                    Milieu Therapist

Department:               Denver Milieu

Programs:                  PHP/IOP

Supervisor:                Program Manager

FLSA:                         Non-Exempt, Hourly

Schedule:                  Full-Time, 32 hours/week. Sunday 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Wednesday 9:30am-6:00pm

Summary of Major Functions:       

Provide and maintain structure for the Partial Hospitalization Program and Transitional Intensive Outpatient Program.  Services include conducting psycho-educational groups, facilitating meals and meal processing, documentation, and encouraging a therapeutic milieu with the abstinence of eating disorder behaviors.

Milieu Staff Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of effective counseling skills.
2. Facilitates meals with patients in a fashion consistent with current policies and procedures; eats and models appropriate eating behaviors during assigned mealtimes with patients.
3. Contributes clinical information and observations about patients in weekly staffing.
4. Facilitates integration of new patients into the program by demonstrating knowledge of all aspects of the clinical program.
5. Hold strong personal boundaries while building therapeutic rapport.
6. Facilitates groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits and monitor the group process.
7. Maintains and develops group curriculum for psycho-ed groups.
8. Is creative in therapeutic interventions to maintain a safe, supportive, clinically sound milieu.
9. Is present and available for patient requests and needs; provides outreach to patients when necessary.
10. Maintains daily program structure.
11. Conducts check-ins and check-outs with patients.
12. Facilitates therapeutic outings.
13. Fulfill Milieu On Duties (MOD), updating teams with Pass updates, self-harm or SI concerns, pass down reports. etc
14. Complete clinical paperwork in a timely and accurate manner:  progress notes, group notes etc.
15. Ensures completion of daily attendance sheet for billing purposes.
16. Takes responsibility for opening and/or closing the facility.
17. Take ownership for some training of new milieu staff and students.
18. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
19. Other job duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in behavioral health field required.
2. Minimum of six months experience working in therapeutic milieu preferred.
3. Clinical conceptualization of the treatment of eating disorders and dual diagnosis preferred.
4. Treatment orientation that aligns with that of EDC, LLC preferred.
5. Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills preferred.

Computer Skills:

1. Must be able to effectively maneuver within an office scheduling system.
2. Minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
3. Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.

Physical Demands and Environment:

Physical demands of this job include but are NOT limited to:

Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking occasionally, hearing constantly, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately.  This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally.

Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:

95% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.
