About the Role
The Slitter Operator is a key member of the EDCOAT production team. This full-time, non-exempt position involves working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Check in and record details of coils prior to the slitting process.
- Load, unload, upend, move, and remove coils involved in the slitting process by means of crane, forklift, coil car, or coil tipper.
- Verify accuracy of coil size, weight, gauge, etc. prior to slitting each coil.
- Set up slitter machine heads and arbors and make needed adjustments according to customer expectations.
- Slit coils using slitting machine at established production rates and equipment utilization rates according to customer and product specifications.
- Inspect material for defects and report problems to the Shipping, Paintline, or Quality Control Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate record of slitter machine materials and inventory on slitter machine checklist.
- Record coil weights and numbers accurately during the slitting process.
- Communicate information about the status of the slitter machine or process during shift changes.
- Inform the Shipping or Paintline Supervisors of the status of the slitter machine tooling, knives, and stripper rings in order to eliminate downtime due to lack of appropriate equipment or tooling.
Requirements
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- 1-3 years previous manufacturing experience.
- PREFERRED: forklift and/or overhead crane experience.
Physical Demands
- The ability to lift (from floor to waist level), push, and pull 50 pounds from floor.
- The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time on concrete surfaces with regular periods of stooping, bending, or sitting.
