Production Role:
This full-time, non-exempt position is based in New Carlisle, IN, and requires normal working hours from 4:00 am to 4:00 pm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating the slitter machine, ensuring accurate coil sizes, weights, and gauges before slitting each coil. They will verify material specifications according to customer expectations and communicate information about the status of the slitter machine or process during shift changes. The Slitter Operator will also maintain accurate records of slitter machine materials and inventory and inform supervisors of tooling, knives, and stripper rings availability to minimize downtime.

Your Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Checking in and recording details of coils prior to the slitting process
• Loading, unloading, upending, moving, and removing coils using a crane, forklift, coil car, or coil tipper
• Verifying accuracy of coil size, weight, gauge, etc., before slitting each coil
• Setting up slitter machine heads and arbors and making necessary adjustments according to customer expectations
• Slitting coils at established production rates and equipment utilization rates according to customer and product specifications
• Inspecting material for defects and reporting problems to supervisors
• Maintaining accurate records of slitter machine materials and inventory
• Recording coil weights and numbers accurately during the slitting process
• Communicating information about the status of the slitter machine or process during shift changes
• Informing supervisors of tooling, knives, and stripper rings availability to minimize downtime
• Performing housekeeping duties as necessary
• Assisting in packaging finished products as needed
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have previous manufacturing experience and possess strong communication skills. Forklift and/or overhead crane experience is preferred.
