Position Summary:
The Assistant Produce Department Head assists the Produce Department Head to oversee and direct the daily operations of the Produce Department. In support of the Produce Department Head, the Assistant Produce Department Head uses their leadership and merchandising skills to manage product levels and ensure sound business decisions. The Assistant Produce Department Head is responsible for enhancing customer confidence and sales by promoting and executing consistent operating conditions, providing fresh and appealing products, providing courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Emphasizes to all department employees that customer service is their primary responsibility.
- Reinforces to all department employees that each customer is Eddie’s most important customer.
- Establishes and maintains food handling and hygiene standards and procedures for all department employees.
- Manages the daily operation of the department including the salad bar.
- Supervises all department employees including salad bar associates.
- Assists with the scheduling of all produce department associates, oversees and assists with their training, rewards and recognizes their performance and delegates their work assignments so as to most effectively utilize their talents and abilities while maximizing profits for the department.
- Responsible for setting daily priorities for department employees.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Manager Certified preferred or willingness to become certified.
Experience:
- No less than six (6) years of produce department experience.
- No less than two (2) or more years of leadership experience, preferably in a grocery store produce department.
- Exceptional knowledge of produce.
Salary : $17 - $25
