Education and Experience Requirements
Strong reading, math, writing, and analytical skills required and high school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft windows office software are required.
Purpose of Position
The purpose of a Parts Room Clerk is to maintain, secure, and procure parts supply to support mechanics so that production operational and have zero loss of production chargeable to maintenance.
General Responsibilities
Provide a means of notification/communication during non-working hours for emergencies.
Ensure work areas are kept clean by the removal of all debris in work areas, all floors and the same are free of liquids, oils and dirt.
Perform assigned tasks efficiently with minimum supervision.
Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.
Responsibilities of Parts Room Clerk
Locate parts: Every stock item has a location in the parts room listed in the sap system. Communication is the factor when understanding what needs to be located between the storeroom clerk and mechanic. Clarity, understanding, & execution between the two parties has to be done in a timely manner with emphasis on teamwork.
Issue parts: Before shift end all items taken and not returned in the same day must be removed from system inventory. Information to collect includes but not limited to: verification of mechanics name, location the part is being used at, quantity being taken, amount leftover in bin, and value of the item. No used parts will be allowed back into stock, only UNUSED items. No partial items are to be issued out, for example: “I only need the contact button from inside of the emergency kick stop switch.”
Receive parts ordered: Packages for maintenance, services tickets, and weekly supply deliveries are to be received into system as soon as delivery is verified. The invoice slip should reflect the same quantities as in the system. Documentation needs signature and date, Stock items need to be put into its proper location and non stock needs to be given to correct mechanics or corresponding supervisor.
Cycle counts: Blind counts are issued daily, and need to be checked against the system for variants. During a cycle count, items should not be issued nor received in an effort to minimize variables. It is generally a good practice to get these done as soon as possible to free up time for other tasks.
Maintain storeroom: At first glance the storerooms cleanliness is what stands out the most. Parts must be in them proper place and labeled properly. The storeroom must be kept clean for your coworker’s personal comfort as well for visual aesthetics as visitors come to audit. Daily any anomalies should be corrected. Insure the food grade & non food grade non flame cabinets have the corresponding items types inside. All tools including ladders are to be logged with employee’s credentials to match. Keeping exits and dock doors closed/locked.
Create parts requisitions:Non stock parts ordered must be attached to requestors WO#. All requests must be okayed by a supervisor prior to entry for approval.
Other duties: Include, but not limited to, processing time for mechanic and printing weekly, biweekly, and monthly Preventive maintenance work orders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
