Assistant Director of Educational Services

Bring your leadership skills to a career that makes a difference!   Eden Autism is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Educational Services to support the overall operations of The Eden School alongside our Director of Educational Services and the Chief Program Officer.  As Assistant Director, you’ll aid in the oversight and supervision of the school day, including staff management, budgeting, and curriculum. The Assistant Director also provides direct supervision of the Extended Day Program.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: 

• Master’s degree in special education or related field 
• New Jersey Certification in Special Education (teacher of the handicapped or teacher of students with disabilities) 
• New Jersey Supervisor’s Certificate or New Jersey Principal Certification 

Experience:

• Five years’ experience teaching children with developmental disabilities, preferably autism.
• Three years’ supervisory experience.

 Valid drivers’ license with record in good standing (5 points or less).

RESPONSIBILITY SNAPSHOT

School Supervision 

• Assist with classroom and staff supervision; provide ongoing guidance, coaching, feedback and professional development; conduct annual performance evaluations.
• Assist with oversight of Eden Curriculum programming, including assessments, probes, program implementation, and troubleshooting. 
• Participate in school intake interviews, identifying students for transition programs, and review of home programing reports, progress reports and IEPs. 
• Assist in ensuring compliance with Department of Education regulations.
• Present staff in-service workshops as assigned.

Extended Day Program 

• Provide coverage for the extended day program as needed.
• Ensure consistency between day and extended day programming.  Assist with training of EDP staff in teaching and behavior techniques; monitor implementation of all behavior support plans and data collection; edit quarterly progress reports.
• Coordinate new students to attend and ensure approval from sending districts.  

Communication and Meetings

• Maintain positive, professional, and regular communications with parents/guardians, and ensure confidentiality regarding participants, families, and staff.
• Attend Lead Teacher meetings, meetings with Director of Education, and all School staffing meetings. Meet with parents for after school visits as requested. 

General Administration

• Ensure staff adherence to all policies and procedures. Review and/or conduct staff disciplinary actions.
• Oversee and provide timely annual performance reviews for direct reports. 
• Assist with financial plans and manage budgets in accordance with guidelines and initiatives.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Specialized Skills and Knowledge 

• Strong knowledge and understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA); competent with ABA behavior and teaching methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Model high performance culture and qualities.
• Discretion in dealing with confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problem, exercise independent judgment, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.

Physical and Other Requirements: 

• Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time (up to 30 minutes).
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification at a P2 level on an annual basis, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
