- Conducts music therapy assessments to determine individual patient needs
- Develops and implements personalized music therapy treatment plans
- Provides one-on-one and group music therapy sessions
- Documents patient progress and adjusts treatment plans accordingly
- Collaborates with other members of the hospice care team to integrate music therapy into overall care plans
- Educates patients, families, and staff about the benefits of music therapy
- Offers relaxation and pain management techniques through music
- Facilitates reminiscence and life review activities through music
- Creates and maintains a therapeutic and supportive environment
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences
- Provides bereavement support through music for families and loved ones
- Stays current with research and best practices in music therapy
- Understands hospice philosophy and issues of death and dying.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Completes quarterly/annual education requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements, including federal, state, local regulations, and accrediting organization standards.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with providers, departments, and staff.
- Attends committee, QAPI and other required meetings as appropriate.
- Adheres to payroll, billing, and documentation policies and procedures.
- Guarantees compliance with policies and procedures regarding Agency operations, fire safety, emergency management, grievance and concerns, adverse events, incident reporting and infection prevention and control.
- Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills.
- Understands regulations/standards applicable to Hospice.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the functions of a Hospice Agency.
- Exhibits genuine interest in and compassion for patients and families dealing with end-of-life issues.
- Understands hospice philosophy and issues of death and dying.
- Proficiency in multiple musical instruments
- Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Candidate should be self-directed and able to work in the field with minimum supervision.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable auto, and current auto insurance.
- Basic computer knowledge
- Certification Board for Music Therapists (MT-BC) credential
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or a related field
- Current license to practice as a music therapist, if required by state
- Experience in hospice or palliative care settings preferred.
- Proof of current auto insurance.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Able to pass criminal background check and national sex offender clearance
