Custodian

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to join our team at the Little Miracles Preschool. Under the direct supervision of the Preschool Director and secondary supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, the Custodian performs environmental service tasks, cleaning and maintenance of the building, minor repairs, and support services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Provides daily cleaning services for school restrooms.
• Provides cleaning services for classrooms, offices, cafeteria, hallways, gymnasium, an all areas in school building
• Maintains and vacuums all carpets in school building
• Provides trash disposal services for all areas of the school building
• Maintains stairwells, ramps and entry ways
• Performs light maintenance and repair of grounds and school building (light repairs and snow removal if needed)
• Follow established health and safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals
• Monitor and refill cleaning supplies and report inventory needs
• Handle spills and other accidents promptly and effectively
• Assists with set-up for activities and events

Essential Skills:

• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and building staff
• Following assigned custodial schedules and assignments in accordance with department standards and requirements
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to use applicable tools and cleaning equipment
• Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures

Qualifications:

• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• FDNY S95 - Supervision of Fire Alarm System
• FDNY F07 - Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor

Physical Requirements:

• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
