Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer at Eden Park is responsible for managing and developing electrical project, specializing in designing custom circuit boards for diverse applications including high voltage power supplies, DC-DC and AC-DC converters, LED lighting, and smart control systems. The Engineer’s responsibilities also include embedded programming, component procurement, debugging, and diagnostics. This role requires close collaboration with the mechanical engineering team to ensure seamless product integration and high-performance. The Electrical Engineer must drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and ensure designs meet stringent quality and regulatory requirements, such as UL and FCC standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design and Development
· Circuit Design: Develop and design advanced analog and digital circuits, including power suppliers, converters, and control systems, using industry-standard software.
· Prototype Development: Create and test prototypes to validate design concepts and ensure functionality.
2. Testing and Validation
· Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing and validation of designs, including environmental and stress testing, to ensure reliability and performance.
· Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing solutions to design and implementation challenges.
3. Project Management
· Project Planning: Lead and manage electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, including setting milestones, tracking progress, and ensuring timely delivery.
· Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., mechanical engineering, software development) to integrate electrical systems into overall product designs.
· Cost Control: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources without compromising quality.
4. Technical Documentation
· Design Documentation: Prepare detailed schematics, layouts, and technical documentation for designs, ensuring they meeting industry standards and company requirements.
· Compliance Documentation: Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., UL, FCC) and prepare necessary compliance documentation.
5. Component Selection and Procurement
· Vendor Coordination: Select appropriate components and work with vendors to source materials, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
· Bill of Materials (BOM): Develop and maintain BOMs for projects, coordinating with procurement teams to manage component inventory.
6. Embedded Systems and Firmware Development
· Programming: Develop and implement embedded firmware for microcontrollers and other digital devices, including debugging and optimizing code.
· Integration: Integrate firmware with hardware components, ensuring seamless operation and communication between systems.
7. Team Leadership and Mentorship
· Technical Guidance: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
· Training: Train staff on new technologies, tools, and procedures, ensuring the team is equipped with the latest skills and knowledge.
8. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
· Research and Development: Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation in product design and development.
· Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to design processes, testing methodologies, and production workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
· Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of engineering tools and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
9. Customer Communication
· Technical Support: Provide technical support and expertise to customers and stakeholders, addressing inquiries and issues related to electrical systems.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required)
· Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (preferred)
2. Experience:
· 3 years in electrical engineering, focusing on circuit design and embedded programming
3. Skills:
· Proficient in schematic and PCB design
· Knowledge of transformer and electrical circuit calculations
· Experience with embedded design and programming
· Familiarity with database management and Windows OS
· Skilled in soldering/desoldering and using diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, LCR meter, thermal camera)
· Understanding of UL and FCC standards
· Experience with high voltage circuitry (preferred)
· Knowledge of circuit simulation (a plus)
