Position: Activity Assistant (8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday)

We are seeking individuals who are devoted to fostering meaningful and purposeful lives for our residents. The Activity Assistant organizes and participates in person-specific activity programming, including one-to-one interventions, small-group facilitation, and large-group presentations. Capable of documenting individual participation and the value of approaches in the medical record.
Job functions will include:
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing activities to meet the physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and emotional needs of our residents
- Create environments where moments of joy, independence, and wellness are the focus every day
- Help design programs to encourage socialization
- Provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment and improve daily living skills
- Prepare and maintain reports on resident’s progress
- Ensure activity areas are safe and well-maintained
- Generate enthusiasm to encourage and motivate participation
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience with people with dementia or dementia training is a plus but not required.
- A passion for working with people
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal
- Problem-solving skills
- The ability to remain calm and adapt to changing situations
- Ability to work under stress while remaining caring and kind
- Ability to understand and work in a variety of situations in a positive and constructive manner
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set and meet deadlines
- Ability to be imaginative, creative, and innovative
- Musical/ arts & crafts experience preferred
