About the Role
Provides advanced nursing care and physician support in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of medical conditions of patients. Obtains patient history, screens patients to ensure appropriate physical/mental development, administers immunizations, orders tests or scans, diagnoses illnesses, prescribes medicines and outlines and monitors courses of treatment. Partners with physicians in the development of care plans, and advises physician in changes of patient status. Assists patients in the management of chronic illnesses and promotes health and wellness. Performs school or extra-curricular physical examinations. Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Monitors and ensures accuracy of patient medical records.
Responsibilities/ Duties
- Performing physical exams and patient observations.
- Recording patients' medical histories and symptoms.
- Creating patient care plans and contributing to existing ones.
- Ordering, administering, and analyzing diagnostic tests.
- Monitoring and operating medical equipment.
- Diagnosing health issues.
- Administering medicine and other treatments.
- Detecting changes in patients' health and modifying treatment plans, as needed.
- Consulting with healthcare professionals and families.
- Training patients and their families to manage and prevent illness and injury.
Education/Experience:
- Completion of Accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Requires an advanced degree in nursing (MSN or DNP), RN and NP licensure, and 2 to 4 years of related experience
Licensing and Certification Requirements:
- Requires an advanced degree in nursing (MSN or DNP), RN and NP licensure, and 2 to 4 years of related experience. Current License as Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner with the Board of Registered Nursing in the State of California.
- Successful completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program of study which conforms to the Board’s educational standards set forth in the California Code of Regulations Section 1484 for California graduates only.
- Current AHA BLS certified
