Job Summary
The dietary aide at Edenbridge PACE performs routine functions in the dietary department including food preparation, food service, cleaning, and other duties assigned under the direction of the Registered Dietitian and Director of Center Operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of food and is responsible for serving meals, snacks, beverages, and nutrition supplements using portion control and applicable sanitation practices
- Prepares meals in accordance with diet orders and ensures participants are served the appropriate meal in a timely manner
- Washes sanitizes and stores dishes and adaptive feeding equipment
- Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies. Ensures proper labeling of food placed into storage
- Ensures that equipment is maintained. Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Registered Dietitian
- Follows fire safety, infection control practices, and hazardous chemical practices, and uses cleaners and other hazardous materials in accordance with facility policy
- Follow Federal and State regulations and Dietary Department policies and procedures
- Follows cleaning schedules and performs cleaning duties as scheduled. Maintains a clean and safe work environment
- Takes daily attendance and prepares tray tickets
- Attends and participates in training, in-services and staff meetings
- Performs all other duties assigned under the direction of the Registered Dietitian and Director of Center Operations
- ServSafe Manager Certification
- Long-term care or hospital food service experience. Must have one (1) year of experience working with a frail or elderly population
- Knowledge of therapeutic diet parameters
- Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships
- Shows respect for the physical, spiritual, and well-being of participants and co-workers
- Ability to problem solve and interpret instructions
- Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact
- Must meet a standardized set of competencies (approved by CMS) before working independently
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to read and speak English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, carry 25 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds
