What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Assistant/ PCA position at Edens Care LLC?
Personal Care Assistance:
Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Provide support with mobility and transfers, including helping patients get in and out of bed, chairs, or wheelchairs.
Help with feeding, including preparing and serving meals, assisting with feeding as necessary, and ensuring proper hydration.
Change bed linens and assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment for patients.
Companionship & Emotional Support:
Offer companionship to patients through conversation, recreational activities, and social interaction.
Monitor patients' emotional and mental well-being, providing encouragement, reassurance, and support when needed.
Build trust with patients and families to create a warm, supportive caregiving environment.
Health Monitoring & Assistance:
Help patients with prescribed exercises or range-of-motion activities as directed by healthcare providers.
Take vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure, and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
Assist in managing patient hygiene, including oral care, hair care, and skin care.
Report any changes in patient condition, including physical or emotional status, to the healthcare team.
Patient Advocacy & Safety:
Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times, including assisting with mobility and preventing falls.
Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean, hygienic environment to reduce the risk of illness.
Support patients in making informed choices about their care and ensure their rights are respected at all times.
Assist patients with medication reminders (if applicable), ensuring they receive their prescribed treatments.
Family Communication:
Communicate effectively with family members and loved ones, providing updates on patients' conditions, preferences, and activities.
Assist families in understanding and managing the care needs of their loved ones.
