What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interconnection Manager position at EDF Renewables?
Scope of position: Provide technical support to the development and implementation teams. Manage all interconnection related activities for wind, solar and storage projects in Canada and the Northeast of the United States, from early stage development all the way to commercial operation. Responsibilities:• 50% - Support projects in development: Analyze electrical grids to identify new opportunities for interconnecting renewable energy and storage projects;Understand interconnection requirements, interconnection processes and Tariff rules;Manage and monitor interconnection requests, working closely with transmission providers and ISOs;Coordinate, review and provide technical insight throughout feasibility, system impact and facilities studies;Lead technical discussions and negotiations with utilities/ISOs to make project interconnection timely and cost effective;Support negotiations for interconnection agreements.• 35% - Support projects in implementation: Manage all interconnection related activities for projects in implementation;Support project on all pre commercial operation interconnection related issues.• 10% - Develop tools to improve the efficiency of internal analysis.• 5% - Other duties as assigned.Qualifications: • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience;• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar;• Knowledge and experience in renewable energy and transmission planning;• Experience working on transmission and interconnection activities; • Proficient in PowerWorld, PSS/E or other power system software;• French written and spoken (an asset);• Valid driver’s license.Skills: • Demonstrated ability to interface with utilities and ISOs;• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical people;• Good analytical skills;• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously;• Tolerance to pressure;• Always willing to “take the extra step” to achieve quality work and bring value to the team and company.Working Conditions: Approximately 80% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (Microsoft Office, PowerWorld, or other software as required). Approximately, 20% of the time is spent in the field meeting with regional developers, CRMs or attending conferences, or meeting with vendors and suppliers as appropriate.
