Job Description :
The primary function of the West Real Time Manager is to lead and manage a team responsible for optimizing the real time position of EDF's EMA portfolio across CAISO and the Western Power Markets. The desk's main focus is operating, scheduling, managing, tracking and balancing all physical and financial schedules.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of West Real Time desk team, including scheduling, employee development, performance management, and required ISO training
- Ensure the daily management of EMA's, coordinating with Energy Managers to ensure adherence to contractual obligations
- Provide guidance on RT trading strategy to meet yearly budget objectives including daily physical flows between regional ISOs
- Ensure compliance of desk position limits, deal capture and daily calculations of PnL
- Work with back-office to ensure daily balancing of positions regarding EDF real time trading activity
- Directly responsible for updating intraday, plus supporting DA, RTO market submittals for unit offers and parameters based on resource operations and market conditions
- Optimizes generation related power supply contracts in the RTO market
- Develops and maintains strong relationships, through continuous interaction with system operators, counterparties, and internal EDF personnel
- Develops a thorough understanding of RTO market protocols
- Responsible for NERC tagging functions and procuring transmission
- Conducts intra-day energy transactions with wholesale customers, RTO's, and other suppliers.
- Inputs transactions into deal capture system
- Provide back-up support as needed to the regional RTO team, including night shifts and weekends
- Assists Management in developing and maintaining proper policies and procedures for participation in RTO markets and contract administration
