Job Summary
The Facilities Engineering Intern will gain firsthand experience by performing routine tasks using well-defined standards and procedures under close supervision by a Professional Engineer or other qualified engineer(s).
At hire or during the Internship, Intern may be assigned to other engineering or service departments; allowing for direct exposure to other engineering disciplines or business operations associated with firm in the engineering consulting industry.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation and review of mechanical / process / safety drawings;
- Participate in the preparation and review of mechanical / process calculations;
- Participate in the preparation and review of equipment and instrument data sheets;
- Participate in the preparation and review of equipment sizing, line sizing, instrumentation design, construction planning, hydraulic analysis, utility studies and radiation/dispersion analysis;
- Participate in the preparation and review of equipment, piping and valves specifications;
- Participate in the preparation and review of equipment list, line list, instrument list, SP Item list, manual valve list and tie-in list;
- Participate in the preparation in the preparation and review of test and commissioning procedures;
- Participate in the review and checking of vendor drawings and data Utilizing proprietary software for preparation of design, bid and construction deliverable packages;
- Gain exposure to a variety of mechanical, process, instrumentation and control system challenges in the design of Oil and Gas facilities;
- Gain exposure to a variety of software packages used in the everyday operations of a Facilities Engineering department.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future;
- Current enrollment in a four (4) year baccalaureate program for Mechanical or Chemical engineering at an accredited college or university;
- Expected graduation dates between December 2025 or May 2026 (attained Junior status)
- Candidate must provide a resume as well as the college or university transcripts.
Physical Requirements (With Or Without Reasonable Accommodation)
- Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
- Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
Additional Application Requirement
To be considered, candidates residing outside of commuting distance to the office are required to provide a cover letter regarding their intentions to relocate to the local area and that the candidate understands that there will be no relocation assistance provided. Candidate outside of commuting distance to the office who do not provide a cover letter will not be screened for the position.
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but may require occasional travel to off-site work locations;
- Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;
- Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
- Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
- May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
- May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
