What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Controls Specialist II position at EDG?
The Project Controls Specialist is responsible for planning and executing schedule/outage commitments as well as providing diverse analytical and operational support to the Grid management team for a local utility company along with the job duties and responsibilities below.
- Communicate, coordinate, and manage schedule execution of planned and emergent work.
- Coordinate and submit supporting outage requests.
- Utilize PowerBi to develop and maintain PowerBi reporting capabilities through various data sources.
- Track and maintain project and outage portfolio data to support necessary management decisions.
- Review and analyze project performance (project scope and cost) to create trends, audit projects and make actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Support cost accrual data development for monthly billing compliance.
- Create and manage project work orders and funding projects.
- Follow operations strategies, plans, and roadmaps to support operations.
- Communicate and coordinate issues, customer requests, interdisciplinary constraints, and project reviews with all relevant stakeholders.
- As requested by management, support all Grid processes.
Required Basic or Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent required;
- Two (2) years of elated experience;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power Apps etc.)
- Working knowledge of cost control software; and the ability to learn new software platforms quickly
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel;
- Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Experience in the Utility industry strongly preferred;
- Understanding and experience in submitting outage related data and equipment;
- Understanding of Microsoft PowerBi & PowerBi workspace management;
- Understanding of MAXIMO operation and workflow systems is preferred;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to learn new software platforms quickly;
- Ability to pay close attention to detail;
- Ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels;
- Availability and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
- Availability and ability to travel to client sites on occasion;
- Availability and ability to work overtime as needed based on project.
Work is conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) and requires occasional travel to off-site work locations
Will need to be flexible to accommodate emergent work requests and required responses during weather events
Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel
Working plant, construction, and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels
Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes
May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis
- Must be able to lift and carry five (5) pounds
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations
- Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations
