The Director of Youth Drill Team Programs is responsible for overseeing the development, management, marketing, and execution of drill team programs for youth participants. This role involves coordinating team activities, fostering skill development, ensuring safe and effective training, and creating a positive, inclusive environment.
The Director will work closely with staff, volunteers, parents, and community members to build a strong, well-structured program, promote growth, and ensure the success of the youth drill team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Management:
- Design and implement age-appropriate drill team practices, performances, and competitions.
- Plan and schedule regular rehearsals, training sessions, and events.
- Ensure drill routines are innovative, challenging, and tailored to the abilities and growth of participants.
- Develop and implement a clear progression plan for participants to advance in their skills and leadership.
- Marketing & Program Promotion:
- Develop a marketing strategy to promote the program, recruit new participants, and increase visibility within the community.
- Manage the program’s social media accounts, website, and other promotional materials.
- Coordinate local advertising and outreach efforts, including flyers, community events, and school presentations.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and schools to support program growth and community engagement.
- Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead and mentor drill team coaches and assistant instructors.
- Provide guidance to youth participants, helping them develop skills in teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
- Monitor the performance and progression of all team members, offering constructive feedback and support.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all drill team activities meet safety standards, and follow relevant rules and regulations.
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of equipment and uniforms.
- Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and safety for all team members.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and community stakeholders regarding team activities.
- Organize and manage communication with stakeholders about upcoming events, performances, and team goals.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local organizations and sponsors to support the team’s growth and visibility.
- Budgeting & Fundraising:
- Work with administration to prepare the program’s budget, including expenses for costumes, travel, and equipment.
- Organize and oversee fundraising activities to support the program’s needs.
- Performance Evaluation:
- Conduct regular assessments of the program’s success and make improvements based on feedback from participants, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Review and update drill team policies and procedures regularly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in coaching or managing youth drill team, dance, or sports programs.
- Proven experience in marketing, including social media management and community outreach.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with youth of various age groups and skill levels.
- Experience in event planning, fundraising, and managing budgets.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Knowledge of drill team contest rules and guidelines.
- Passion for working with youth and fostering their growth in a structured, supportive environment.
Work Environment:
- Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for rehearsals, events, and contests.
- Ability to travel for events and competitions, as necessary.
- Work will be based in Plano, Texas , with some travel to contests, events, and performances.
