Position Overview:
Edge Electric is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead growth initiatives and expand our footprint in the electrical services industry. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to identify new business opportunities, build strong relationships with industry stakeholders, and consistently drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with the electrical industry and the Austin market, possess exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Growth Initiatives:
Partner with leadership to define and execute the company’s business development strategy. Identify key areas for growth, and lead efforts to penetrate new end markets or expand within existing sectors. Focus on sustainable, profitable growth.
- Lead Generation & Market Expansion:
Identify and secure new business opportunities across commercial and industrial electrical sectors. Conduct thorough market research to understand emerging trends, competitor activity, and evolving client needs. Develop actionable strategies for entering new end markets and expanding existing relationships.
- Relationship & Client Management:
Cultivate long-term relationships with key decision-makers at contractors, developers, suppliers, and other industry partners. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their requirements and offering tailored solutions that align with Edge Electric’s expertise.
- Sales Leadership & Negotiation:
Lead the sales process for electrical services, from proposal generation to deal closure. Work closely with the Estimating team to nsur all agreements align with company goals and client needs, driving both profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Collaboration with Operations:
Collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of projects. Support clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial proposal to project completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality service.
- Industry Engagement & Networking:
Represent Edge Electric at industry events, conferences, and trade shows. Build a strong professional network, generate leads, and keep up to date on industry advancements to maintain Edge Electric's competitive edge.
- Performance Reporting & Analytics:
Regularly report on business development activities, sales performance, and market feedback. Provide leadership with clear insights into business trends, forecasts, and opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications in business development or electrical services are a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in the construction, electrical, or related industries.
- Minimum of 3 years in a Business Development leadership position, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and consistently surpassing sales targets in competitive markets.
- Direct experience in selling electrical services or working with electrical contractors in the greater Austin area is highly preferred.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, services, and industry trends.
- Proven success in sales and client relationship management.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) is a plus.
