NOTE: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued new requirements for health care and
congregant care facilities to decrease the risk of COVID-19 outbreaks. Based on the CDPH public health mandate, all candidates for positions at Edgewood Center must provide proof of vaccination. Edgewood Center will consider applicants with ADA and Title VII exemptions on a case-by-case basis.
Mission Statement: Edgewood is the place to begin for any child or youth to get the mental health care, social services, and academic support they need from highly trained, welcoming professionals.
Support Group Facilitator-This is a part-time, non-exempt position, 20 hours a week, Mon. through Fri., with flexible hours, located in our Bayview Hunter’s Point office. This is a hybrid position-office and field as needed.
The San Francisco Kinship Support Network provides comprehensive support services to children in relative foster care placements that are designed to strengthen caregiver efficacy and promote placement stability and permanency.
Position Summary
The Kinship Support Group Facilitator provides supportive services to kinship families by facilitating peer-led support groups, activities, workshops, and classes.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitate an assigned, ongoing support group for kinship caregivers using the "Building Blocks for Successful
Groups" curriculum.
- Respect participant confidentiality at all times.
- Provide support to participants in a manner that is engaging and motivational, yet still enables participants to take responsibility for their lives. Provide support and services as a supporter and advocate, as opposed to a rescuer.
- Outreach to new and current kinship caregivers to create a welcoming, unbiased, and engaging atmosphere to attend support groups and other program activities.
- Attend monthly facilitator's group supervision and monthly Kinship staff meeting.
- Be responsible for completing and submitting sign-in sheets and evaluations forms to the Kinship Director after each group.
Applied Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to speak and write English. Ability to speak and write a second language is preferred.
- Ability to engage, communicate and work effectively with diverse individuals, families, and communities.
- Ability to work autonomously, dependably, and safely in various San Francisco communities.
- Experience as a relative caregiver is required. Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
- Basic computer skills are required.
The hourly rate for this position is: $21-$23 per hour.
