Position Type: Seasonal, Part-Time & Full-Time

Camp Duration: June 16 – August 30 (Must commit to at least 6, 8, 10, or 11 weeks)

Hours Available:

• Part-Time: 8:30/9:00 AM – 1:30/2:00 PM
• Full-Time: 8:30/9:00 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM

Pay Type: Hourly and will commensurate with experience

Edgewood Summer Camp, located on the scenic grounds of Edgewood Golf & Recreation in River Vale, NJ, is a fast-paced, dynamic sports-focused program for children ages 4-12. Our camp emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness while also offering art, yoga, and special events. We are committed to creating a fun, inclusive, and safe environment where campers can learn new skills, make lasting memories, and thrive.

Position Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Camp Counselors who love working with children in an active, outdoor setting. Counselors will supervise up to 20 campers with the support of fellow group counselors under the leadership of a Senior Counselor and the Camp Director. Camp Counselors will facilitate games, lead counselor-run activities, and provide engaging, age-appropriate programming. They will be assigned to a specific age group (4-12) and must be flexible, creative, and proactive in ensuring an exciting camp experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage up to 20 campers with the support of fellow counselors in their group, ensuring their safety and active participation in all activities.
• Foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive camp atmosphere through positive interactions and leadership. * Lead counselor-run activities and develop age-appropriate games and programming for your group.
• Actively participate in all camp programs, leading by example with enthusiasm and positivity.
• Manage group transitions between activities and maintain an organized and structured schedule.
• Ensure all campers follow aquatic rules during pool time in a professional and responsible manner.
• Assist with clean-up within your group after activities and work collectively as a team to ensure all camp areas are in order at the end of the day.
• Assist campers during lunchtime (working lunch) and ensure the lunch area is clean before transitioning to the next activity.
• Ensure compliance with camp policies, safety guidelines, and NJ state regulations at all times.
• Communicate camper needs or concerns to the Senior Counselor and/or Camp Director.
• Be available to assist the Senior Counselor and Camp Director as needed.
• Collaborate with fellow counselors to create a positive and energetic camp environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Previous camp experience in an outdoor setting is required.
• Commitment to at least 6, 8, 10, or 11 weeks of camp.
• Experience working with children in a school, sports, or recreational setting is preferred.
• High school diploma required; college coursework in education, sports, or related fields is a plus.
• Must provide a current annual physical exam (valid throughout camp employment).
• CPR certification is a plus.
• Must be flexible, creative, and proactive in engaging campers in a variety of activities.
• Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for working with children and fostering a fun camp experience.
• All staff will be subject to background checks as part of the hiring process.
