General Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of Edgeworks Climbing at our Bel-Red Boulders location, including staff management, programming, route setting, risk management and facilities. The Operations Manager works in collaboration with delegated staff, marketing, and the Director of Operations to ensure consistent company growth by implementing and managing systems that provide the highest quality experience for customers and staff. The Operations Manager leads by example to establish and maintain a collaborative and respectful work environment for staff and welcoming community culture for members and guests.
About Bel-Red Boulders
Bel-Red Boulders is Edgeworks' all new bouldering gym! Located just a few blocks away from our Crossroads location, this all new 26,400 sq ft bouldering-only gym helps fill the growing need for more climbing, training and fitness on the Eastside and for our greater Edgeworks community.
Core Functions:
- Manage overall operations of Edgeworks Climbing including membership, front desk, route setting, retail, maintenance, courses, guiding, fitness, and programs.
- Collaborate with marketing, accounting and operations to facilitate communication of objectives, needs, and concerns.
- Develop and manage operations budget to maximize profits, overseeing the payroll and department expenditures.
- Maintain positive relationships between customers and Edgeworks Climbing through effective communication and outreach.
- Set short and long-term goals for future improvements and growth.
Principal Activities:
STAFF MANAGEMENT
- Collaborate with Edgeworks Bellevue (Crossroads) Management to manage staffing needs, hiring, training and scheduling.
- Nurture employee motivation and job satisfaction via dynamic leadership and support.
- Drive communication structures that ensure staff are knowledgeable, capable and able to support company goals and objectives.
- Maintain accountability and professionalism among staff.
- Ensure staff quality through assessment and evaluation.
- Collaborate with and delegate responsibilities to employees.
- Communicate with Edgeworks Bellevue (Crossroads) Management, Director of Operations, and staff as needed to ensure staff quality.
MAINTENANCE & LOGISTICS
- Introduce and maintain new systems and strategies where needed to ensure Maintenance and Logistics are current.
- Maintain organized and efficient POS, member management, and maintenance systems.
- Ensure that facilities and equipment remain clean, functioning, and high quality.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT
- Develop/maintain annual income and expense budgets.
- Continuously review budgets against actuals and goals.
- Ensure operation margins are in line with company goals.
RISK MANAGEMENT
- Serve as staff lead (collaborating with Director of Operations and key staff) to support Risk Management.
- Support incident reporting and reviews, safety reviews, emergency scenarios, and policy writing.
- Ensure all programs have sufficient emergency support through systems and notification sequences.
CULTURE AND COMMUNITY
The Operations Manager is at the forefront of the culture and community of Edgeworks Climbing and must:
- Lead staff in supporting a progressive culture and community.
- Maintain a crucial role in the welcoming and exciting culture and community at Edgeworks Climbing.
OTHER DUTIES
- Contribute actively to team efforts and goals as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experienced and proven team leader.
- Minimum 3 years related management/leadership experience preferred.
- Experience working within customer/membership databases preferred.
- Climbing Gym or Retail/Fitness industry experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Employment Status:
- Full-Time
(Hours may include working events, weekends, projects or after hours) - Salary $78,000 - $84,000 DOE
