Our co-founders Brian and Silvia lead our group classes, and our small team of experienced tutors handle private tutoring. We excel at customizing student test prep plans to meet their needs and achieve their best scores, helping them get into desired universities and earn scholarship money and merit aid in the process.
Job Description
Edison Prep primarily offers in-person ACT and SAT tutoring, in-office in Sandy Springs, but we also work with virtual students all over the country. We offer our tutors a steady stream of students, flexible weekly schedules, industry-leading compensation (200% what most prep firms pay), paid training time, and ongoing professional development.

Employment Status: Independent Contractor (1099)
Reports to: Operations Manager and Edison Prep Co-founders
Hour Requirement: 10-40 hours per week
During the school year, sessions are typically scheduled on Monday - Friday 3:45-9:45PM and Saturday / Sunday 9:00AM-9:30PM. During break periods (e.g. summer) many tutors have more traditional 9-5 hours but we are still open in the evenings!
Prior Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in tutoring, teaching or other related education, as well as test prep background, is strongly preferred but not necessary.
Requirements:
- Ability to travel to Sandy Springs, GA
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Availability on at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to take initiative and to work both independently and within a team
- Timely responsiveness to calls/texts/emails
- Professional, clear, and grammatically correct communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
- Ability to effectively deliver and modify curricula to students with different needs
- A patient, positive, and encouraging approach
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement customized lesson plans to assist students (typically in 9-11th grade) in preparing for standardized tests—all four sections of the ACT (English, Math, Reading, and Science) and both sections of the SAT (Reading/Writing, and Math)
- Meet with students in-person in our Sandy Springs office as well as virtually via Zoom when needed
- Provide instruction on test-taking strategies and techniques, presenting complex information in an understandable manner.
- Assess student engagement and comprehension and adjust instructional methods as needed.
- Utilize provided curricular materials—Edison Prep’s Guides to the ACT and SAT, official practice tests, supplemental practice materials—appropriately.
- Maintain current knowledge in each subject area where instruction is carried out
- Take ACT/SAT mock tests when new ones are released to maintain up-to-date knowledge
- Take constructive feedback in stride, and use it to enhance your teaching practices; A growth mindset as you learn to navigate new developments in testing
- Confirm student attendance, document session notes, and maintain accurate records
- Arrive at least 10 minutes before your first session of the day
- Participate in company meetings and trainings
- Attend quarterly 1-1 check-ins with our Operations Manager
- Communicate any concerns, student and/or parent communication to administrators
- Expand into tutoring SSAT/ISEE, academic subjects (including AP courses), and/or content creation if desired/if needed

As part of the application process, all prospective tutors will complete a mock ACT at our Sandy Springs office and deliver a 5-minute lesson on the topic of their choice.
