Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Provide specialized instruction in both pull-out and push-in settings to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Monitor and assess students’ progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to ensure success.
- Support students in developing essential life skills, self-advocacy, and independence.
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify the curriculum for students with diverse learning needs.
- Participate in regular IEP meetings, contributing to goal setting, progress reviews, and family communication.
- Provide support and guidance to classroom staff, paraprofessionals, and other colleagues working with students with exceptional needs.
- Maintain up-to-date records, including IEP documentation, progress reports, and behavioral data.
- Foster a positive relationship with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.
- Attend professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in special education.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Arizona certification in Special Education.
- Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs, particularly those with disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and the special education process.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support for students with varying abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to helping all students succeed.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience with assistive technology and specialized instructional tools.
- Familiarity with current special education laws and regulations.
- Experience in developing behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices.
