Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and compassionate Full-Time ESS Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ESS Teacher will be responsible for delivering individualized and group-based instruction to students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities and those requiring additional academic support. This role involves collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective educational plans tailored to meet each student's needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide specialized instruction in both pull-out and push-in settings to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
  • Monitor and assess students’ progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to ensure success.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills, self-advocacy, and independence.
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt and modify the curriculum for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Participate in regular IEP meetings, contributing to goal setting, progress reviews, and family communication.
  • Provide support and guidance to classroom staff, paraprofessionals, and other colleagues working with students with exceptional needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date records, including IEP documentation, progress reports, and behavioral data.
  • Foster a positive relationship with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona certification in Special Education.
  • Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs, particularly those with disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and the special education process.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support for students with varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to helping all students succeed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with assistive technology and specialized instructional tools.
  • Familiarity with current special education laws and regulations.
  • Experience in developing behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices.

Working Conditions: Work primarily occurs in a classroom setting. Considerable repetitive computer functions. Constant interruptions in a high-volume work environment. Work is performed with time pressures and requires handling multiple tasks, frequently changing tasks and interruptions. Extensive public contact via telephone, email and in person. Work requires the ability to remain in a sitting position for 50% of the time, 25% walking and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
