POSITION OVERVIEW

About the Position

The Middle School English Teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating the district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and indirectly through special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors degree is Education or related field

Experience

  • One year teaching experience
  • Other Requirements

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.
  • Currently enrolled or completed student teaching or Student Teacher in service Learning Contract
  • Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree & previous successful classroom experience
  • Two years teaching experience
  • ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

  • Plan and implement a program of study that as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students within the school curriculum.
  • Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Creates a weekly written lesson plan, describing daily learning experiences.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students and their parents.
  • Diagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance of district specialists as required
  • Communicates aims and / or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student behavior.
  • Develops and implements reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just manner.
  • Creates educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his / her potential in the areas of personalsocial adjustment, decision-making, positive self-image and other life skills.
  • Promotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies regulations and administrative procedures.
  • Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner.
  • Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal / supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Working Conditions

    Work primarily occurs in a classroom setting. Considerable repetitive computer functions. Constant interruptions in a high-volume work environment. Work is performed with time pressures and requires handling multiple tasks, frequently changing tasks and interruptions. Extensive public contact via telephone, email and in person. Work requires the ability to remain in a sitting position for 50% of the time, 25% walking and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
