We are seeking an experienced Utility Service Manager with experience. This role involves overseeing electrical utility services, ensuring the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and operation of electrical systems at trade shows, conventions, and events. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, excellent leadership skills, and experience working in fast-paced event environments. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage tasks effectively while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, license and certifications.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinate electrical utility services for trade shows, including power distribution, lighting, and temporary electrical setups.
- May lead a team of utility technicians, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Monitor and manage budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
- Manage schedules, assignments, and resources to ensure timely completion of electrical installations and services.
- Work closely with event organizers, exhibitors, and venue management to assess electrical needs and provide cost-effective solutions.
- Address and resolve any electrical issues during events, ensuring minimal disruption to exhibitors and attendees.
- Coordinate with other departments (Events Team, AV, rigging, general contractors) to ensure seamless event execution.
- Train and mentor electricians and apprentices on trade show electrical systems and safety procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Collaborate with other the Event Services Team members to coordinate utility needs and support operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensed electrician with experience in the trade show or event industry.
- Strong knowledge of temporary power distribution systems, generators, and electrical layouts for small and large-scale events.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills for collaborating with exhibitors and event organizers.
- Familiarity with local electrical codes, OSHA standards, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on event schedules.
- Proficient in project management principles with a track record of successful project execution.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards within utility operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers.

Preferred Qualifications
- State licensed Journeyman and/or Master Electrician.
- Experience working in convention centers, trade show venues, or event production.
- Additional certifications related to electrical safety or event industry best practices.
- Knowledge of other utility services, such as plumbing and rigging, is a plus
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma
- 3 years of experience in electrical distribution, infrastructure, or a related field.; or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and develop strategic operational plans.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands, arms, and talk, see, and hear. Ability to spend extended hours in in a warehouse and on a showroom floor. Occassionaly spend time in front of a computer screen and keyboarding. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. May need valid driver's license and clean driving record to drive company vehicles. Must be able to commute to Dallas and Fort Worth convention centers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Convention center, warehouse, and office setting.
