Job Summary:
The Construction Project Manager 1 will work closely with the Sr. Construction Project Manager to provide task-oriented project duties from the office including analysis and support to the Construction Project Manager, to the Contractor, Engineer, Client, and interested parties regarding construction plans, specifications, and contract administration matters for civil infrastructure/facilities projects.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with assigned construction project managers, site representatives, engineers, project coordinators, contract administrators, agency inspectors, and surveyors on civil infrastructure/facilities projects.
- Perform analysis of bid forms, bid item descriptions, and determine potential overlap or gaps in scope for various civil engineering projects.
- Perform analysis of civil infrastructure construction plans for potential constructability issues.
- Facilitate quantity take-offs of civil infrastructure construction plans.
- Analyze and prepare contract duration estimates for the various projects.
- Coordinate meetings and collaborate with the design team to discuss administrative and constructability matters.
- Coordinate pre-bid meetings, review pre-bid addendums, respond to pre-bid inquiries, prepare NTP, and other contract correspondence.
- Perform analysis of as-builts surveys and identify possible discrepancies in the work.
- Prepare miscellaneous and timely correspondence under the direction of the construction project manager.
- Research technical matters, prepare potential solutions, and present to the engineering and construction project managers.
- Analyze pay applications, budgets, cost overruns, and construction schedules.
- Meet on-site in the field to oversee testing and other site construction matters.
- Prepare project close out/acceptance packages with jurisdictional agencies.
- Deliver written correspondence as needed on technical issues such as contractor non-performance issues, quality or work issues, and deficient work.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Willingness to learn, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of construction accounting terms, forms, and processes.
- Leadership and Negotiation skills.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Project preferred.
- Detail oriented with great organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at a time.
- Ability to read and interpret civil infrastructure construction drawings.
- Prior experience in construction, home building, or construction trades.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and work outdoors.
- Moderate lifting on occasion is required.
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a variety of different climate environments.
Education, certification and experience:
- Possess bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, construction supervision, or related professional construction certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or equivalent.
- 1 year of related civil construction management or field experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of field inspector’s duties on civil construction projects.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and maintain minimum vehicle insurance as required by state law.
- Must have reliable/dependable transportation.
