About us:

We are a new psychological practice looking for a detail-oriented and organized medical billing and customer service specialist to manage client accounts and care schedules. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and medical terminology. This role is essential for ensuring accurate billing and collections for our behavioral health services, contributing to the financial health of our organization.

As the first face our families will see, we require an individual who will give the best possible impression of our business by being polished, friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging to all families.

The ideal candidate will be able to balance the detail-oriented, insurance and financial aspects comfortably while also being able to listen compassionately, offer assistance, answer questions, and resolve matters amicably. A customer-driven mentality and a positive, encouraging, team-minded attitude are a must.

The candidate will be responsible for accurately collecting and posting payments for psychological procedures and services. The candidate will monitor and organize client medical costs and send invoices to collect payments from families and their insurers.

The candidate should be focused, able to openly communicate with team members, and have the willingness to learn and retain information given to them.

This position is in-office Monday through Friday. The position is approximately 40 hours per week.

This position requires the candidate to speak with families and insurance companies, as well as enter and review assessment/therapy claims. Candidates must have a strong working knowledge of medical terminology and reimbursement rules, as well as the ability to prioritize several projects at once and meet deadlines. We are looking for someone who appreciates the value of quality customer service and has no problem explaining complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Electronic billing and claims submission to primary and secondary insurance carriers
  • Preparing client statements on a weekly basis
  • Searching financial statements for any payment inconsistencies or errors
  • Communicating with families, third party institutions and other team members to resolve billing inconsistencies and errors
  • Answering client inquiries about their insurance coverage and/or account balance
  • Assist with posting insurance and patient payments to claims
  • Work with our EHR system to input, monitor and follow up on claims status and denied claims with insurance companies
  • Assist in enhancing our billing process through continuing research and identification of new and existing billing codes and techniques
  • Oversee and execute credentialing for providers with insurance companies and assist with ongoing requirements to maintain credentialing
  • Greet families and answer phone calls
  • Assist in client assessment/therapy scheduling
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing

Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associate or Bachelors in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or business-related field (Preferred)

Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of experience in medical billing, preferably in a psychology office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance regulations, and billing practices
  • Experience with electronic health record systems and billing software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience:

  • Medical billing: 2 years (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
