Associate Faculty Pool, English (PT Faculty)
LOCATION: Lynnwood Washington

DESCRIPTION: We provide a sequence of composition courses designed to develop and strengthen critical thinking and writing skills that students need to succeed in their college work. We also offer a variety of elective courses in literature, creative writing, and journalism that fulfill Humanities distribution requirements and, in some cases, the Cultural Diversity requirement for the AA degree.
Classes are offered in a variety of class times and modes of instruction:
Face-to-face classes that meet during the day or evening.
Hybrid classes that meet face-to face once a week (on Saturday or an evening) as well as online.
Online classes that meet entirely online.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in English.
Successful experience as a composition instructor or teaching assistant at the college level. Other applicable experiences may be considered.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Canvas or another current Learning Management System as an instructor, teaching assistant or student.
Ability to teach effectively in a variety of formats, including hybrid and online.
Ability to effectively incorporate a variety of instructional strategies.
Ability to effectively incorporate cultural and social diversity within the course content.
Ability to teach at a variety of times, including evenings and weekends.
Experience working effectively with a culturally diverse student population.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.
COMPENSATION:
Work schedule is based on an eleven week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $5,865.82 at Step A.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
All new positions are contingent upon funding.
