We are seeking a strategic, proactive Learning and Emerging Technology Manager to contribute to the strategic direction of learning and emerging technology at ASU. Every day you’ll make a difference in the lives of others by working closely with teams across AI-driven tools, learning technology integrations, and immersive experiences.
You will collaborate with and provide leadership within:
- AI Product Team – Partner to support the development of AI-driven educational tools and personalized learning solutions.
- Learning Technology Team – Help manage the integration of technology in ASU’s online courses, with a primary focus on Canvas and related learning platforms.
- Split Studio (XR Development Team) – Contribute to the creation of immersive experiences, including virtual reality (VR) and game-based learning for ASU Online, Dreamscape Learn, and external partners.
Essential Duties:
Operational Execution & Team Collaboration
- Provide oversight and guidance to ensure projects remain on track and deliverables are met.
- Foster a culture of accountability and excellence, ensuring smooth coordination across teams.
- Address challenges as they arise, supporting teams in navigating operational complexities.
Tactical Decision-Making
- Support decision-making processes that drive success while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Work cross-functionally to problem-solve and optimize processes for efficiency and impact.
- Provide clarity and direction to teams, helping ensure smooth execution of initiatives.
Bridge Between Strategy and Execution
- Translate high-level strategic goals into actionable plans in collaboration with various teams.
- Maintain open lines of communication between leadership, faculty, and technical teams.
- Gather and analyze data to provide meaningful insights that inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
Internal & External Engagement
- Represent the department in meetings and discussions to ensure visibility and alignment with institutional goals.
- Develop reports, presentations, and documentation to showcase progress and impact.
- Cultivate relationships across ASU to drive collaboration and shared innovation.
Special Initiatives & Innovation
- Help lead high-impact initiatives such as AI pilots, Hack Days, and immersive learning projects.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations that enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Stay informed on emerging trends in AI, learning technology, and immersive experiences to ensure ASU remains at the forefront of education technology.
Other Duties or Projects as assigned or directed
NOTE: This is not a fully remote position. Must be able to reliably commute to Scottsdale Arizona.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in AI, Learning Technology, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Evidence of at least 5 years of leadership experience in AI product management, learning technology, educational innovation, or immersive learning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of AI applications in education, Canvas integrations, and emerging learning technologies.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with AI tools or XR development
- Demonstrated experience with LLMs, agentic AI, and immersive technologies like VR and game-based learning.
- Evidence of skill at articulating complex AI and technology concepts to diverse audiences.
- Evidence of strong collaboration skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work with faculty, instructional designers, and developers.

EdPlus at ASU supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate work schedules to hybrid remote work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy. (This is NOT a fully remote position.)
