Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Active state-level licensure and/or certification OR ability to obtain.
- Special Education Certification
- American Sign Language (ASL) Proficiency
- Experience working in schools or with children is preferred but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with IEP teams to develop tailored educational plans that address the specific communication and academic needs of each student.
- Curriculum Adaptation: Modify and adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, incorporating visual and hands-on learning strategies.
- Implement Effective Teaching Strategies: Use a variety of teaching methods, including sign language, visual aids, and technology, to facilitate learning.
- Facilitate Communication: Use sign language (e.g., ASL or other sign systems) and other communication methods to ensure effective communication with students.
- Promote Language Development: Support language and literacy development through interactive and engaging activities tailored to each student’s level of understanding.
- Crisis Intervention: Develop and implement strategies to support students in crisis situations, ensuring their safety and well-being.
