GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a collaborative partnership between the Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and the three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway, and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.
The Food Aide assists with the preparation of meals and snacks and their delivery to the classrooms and assists in maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen work area. The Food Service Aide is also responsible for assisting with duties in their center as needed.
Schedule: This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm at our Indian Hill Educare location.
Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Reports to: Director of Health and Nutrition Services
Supervises: The Food Aide is a non-supervisory position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the preparation of meals and snacks.
- Maintains kitchen sanitation requirements through cleaning of utensils, dishes, and equipment on a scheduled basis.
- Assists with activities of ordering, storing, and maintaining inventories of food products and kitchen chemicals.
- Assists with preparation of paperwork associated with the nutrition program.
- . Assist with covering duties at other sites when needed for staffing requirements.
- Assist with other duties within the school as needed including laundry and cleaning/sanitization of toys.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Minimum of one year experience and knowledge of food handling requirements and practices.
- Skill in operating various types of kitchen equipment such as stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and other equipment.
- Ability to complete necessary records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to lift, carry and move center/classroom equipment and supplies.
- Ability to obtain SERV Safe Food Handlers certification.
- Ability to obtain Food Handlers certification within six months of hire. Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards
