**Job Summary**

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of students, staff, and facilities. This role requires a high level of vigilance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle various situations.

Main Responsibilities:

• Patrol assigned areas to identify potential threats or hazards and take prompt action to mitigate them.
• Enforce laws, rules, and regulations to maintain order and ensure compliance.
• Conduct regular security checks to prevent unauthorized access or breaches.
• Assist staff in resolving conflicts or disturbances in a calm and professional manner.
• Investigate complaints and take appropriate action to address concerns.
• Maintain the physical security of buildings and property by ensuring all doors, windows, and gates are secure.
• Manage parking and traffic control duties to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
• Enforce center pass policies to ensure only authorized individuals have access to restricted areas.
• Provide escort services as directed to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
• Collaborate with the center to achieve its goals and maintain a positive work environment that reflects our core values.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols.
• Basic knowledge of riot and crowd control procedures and the ability to intervene in physical altercations.
• Interpersonal, mediation, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage conflicts and issues.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of students, including those with special needs.
• Proficiency in computer software such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of experience in a security or related capacity (preferably).
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• A commercial Driver's License Class B with passenger endorsement within the first year of hire (encouraged).
